Hazel Software Limited (“Handy Kanji”, “we” and “us”) respects the privacy of all our users (“you”) when using our Handy Kanji application (“app”). We have developed this Privacy Policy to inform you and demonstrate our commitment to protecting your privacy.

This Privacy Policy describes the information we collect about you and how that information may be used, with whom it may be shared and your choices and your ability to limit such uses and disclosures of the information we collect about you.

Data we collect and how we use it

In order to register as a user of Handy Kanji you are required sign in using either using your Facebook login or an email address, if you sign in with Facebook, you authorise us access to certain Facebook account information such as your public Facebook profile (consistent with your privacy settings on Facebook), friends list, and email address. This information is used to personalise your app experience, such as using your Facebook name when welcoming you to the app or when referring to specific scores and in-app achievements. Your Facebook information is also used for analytics purposes and to develop aggregated targeted advertising to the app’s user demographic, as well as allowing you to find common Facebook friends with other Handy Kanji users. Your Facebook information will not be shared with any third parties. Your personal email address which can be used to sign in to this app service or may be provided to us through your Facebook login, is used for the purpose of identifying unique users and allowing us provide our app service to you. Your email address may also be used for customer service and account management, or to inform you of Handy Kanji related services and updates to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

We also collect data related to the use of the app such as scores, analytics using Facebook and Google analytics tools, achievements, user’s kanji drawings and app settings for the purposes of allowing you to use the app and retain your personal settings and in app progress, as well as for research purposes to allow us to improve our service. This information will also not be shared with any third parties.

How we Protect your Data

Your information may be stored in the United States or other countries that are not governed by European and United Kingdom privacy laws, statutes and regulations as our servers are primarily based in the United states. We take security measures to help safeguard and protect your information such as using Auth 2.0 authorisation on user accounts as well as utilising SSL (secure socket layer) encryption on our servers, however no system can be completely secure. Therefore, even though we have taken extensive steps to protect your information you should not expect that your information will always remain secure. If you wish to stop using our service, you can delete your account in the app settings, this will remove all information stored about you from our servers. You will however retain any in-app purchases as these are stored on the keychain and are connected to your Apple ID if you wish to continue using the app in the future.
